You need a serial card and cable, and of course an external modem. For
starting out, I'd suggest that you start with a used 2400 modem to avoid
the complications that sometimes arise with faster speeds until you get
your feet wet. Also, if you don't have at least two 5.25 drives, you'll
want to pick up another drive also. One 5.25 doesn't have enough storage
on it to do anything useful.
You need to determine if your IIe is enhanced or not, because if it is not
enhanced it will limit your choice of telecom and compression programs.
