No, it doesn't have to be a Silentype printer.  It is easier because it has
fewer (none?) printer codes defined, so you get straight ascii-text, no
embedded printer controls.  You could do the same with a custom printer by
leaving all controls empty, but the Silentype already is setup this way.

What didn't work?  I can think of several that won't work - cpi changes etc.
but margins, centering, etc. should work.  Oh, I think the Silentype is
a 10 cpi printer - so format your document that way.  A wider platen wide
allows more chars per line.  (Something seems partly wrong with that statement.
It seems like I've used both a 17cpi and 13 or 14" platen width to get the
maximum chars per line with the database module.) Experiment!
