HELP!

Hi guys, it is me your friendly neighborhood 3rd grade teacher with the
Apple II lab in his classroom again. 

I recently had the Sider HD that was donated a while ago begin acting funny
and now it is giving errors when accessing certain parts of the drive. I
wanted to try reformating, and reinitializing it but I don't know what
software from goodness knows where might do this. It is kind of important
because this is the ONE computer that I can decently run Publish It from in
order to produce my classroom newsletter. 

I also recently bought (at a garage sale) an Apple Profile HD. What sort of
interface does this require to work with an Apple II? Anyone have any
experiences or comments about this piece of hardware?
