Ughh... I can't believe this thread went off tangent into piracy... Yes,
Joe is very vocal about legal acquisitions of software, but there is
a much bigger threat than piracy.

Hidden in the words of Joe's rhetoric is that Dr. Tom is a leech in the
Apple II community. All of his actions is to benefit one person, himself.
Dr. Tom claims that his actions is to benefit all, but he abuses the
individuals who are still making a difference in the Apple II community.
Without going into details, he has lied to Apple IIgs developers to try
to get his hands on products that aren't ready to be released. Every
Apple IIgs developer I know would say if they had any reason to stop
programming on the IIgs would be because of Dr. Tom. If Dr. Tom is
such a benevolent soul, how come everybody who really wants to push
the limits of the GS despise him so much? The solution is simple.
Avoid 1WSW. Avoid Dr. Tom. Avoid his glorification of vaporware.

Just because every other post is written by Dr. Tom doesn't mean he
knows what he is talking about. Trust those who unselfishly supports
the Apple II platform of computers: Joe Kohn, Nathan Mates, Derek
Taubert, Eric Shepherd, Richard Bennett, Mike Westerfield, Ewen
Wannop, Tim Buchheim, Tony Diaz, Steve Disbrow just to mention a
few people. The one who spends all day at home leeching off of
others obviously has more time to post, but is also in a position
to make others think he is a hero. The silent majority who have
real jobs (usually with jobs that aren't relating to the Apple II)
are the ones who are making a difference. Support those who are
making a difference to the Apple II community--a community which
made me feel very welcome at Kansasfest '96.

Hopefully you will have a better understanding of what Joe's
rhetoric means. I'm sure he will be using these metaphors many more
times in the future--just look at his .signature (which were
very appropriate, IMO).
