Another way of thinking about "outdated" or older software...
I am a music teacher by profession, but on occassion write music.
Legally, when I place a copyright on my music, I own it for a set period
of time.
Some of the music I write I might choose to sell, and I may even spend
some money to advertise it through different channels. There may come a
point, however, where I might choose to withdraw sales due to the low
volume of sales, or any other reason that I desire.
Even though I pull it from sales, it is STILL my property. If you want a
copy of the piece, you do NOT have the right to photocopy someone else's
copy, just because you can't buy a copy of it yourself. I spent the time
writing it, so it is mine, and I should (and do) have all rights in
deciding who should be able to attain it.
