SUCCESS!!! GS Internal 3.5 Drive!!!

Just got done mounting the 3.5 floptical drive internally!!! I
mounted it into an extra GS I have for backup. And it was pretty simple
once I got it all figured out. I'll have to sit down and write it out
then upload it to C.S.A2 so you all can get a mind picture of what I did.
Then soon I'll take pics and upload to the C.S.A2 and then all can see.
Like I say it was pretty simple once I sat down and fiqured it
out. In fact the hardest part was cutting the hole in the front of the
case lid. Just to give you an idea of some of the materials used here's
the list: 1 1/2" black velcro, 2 pen type marker lids, 2 screws, and 2
rubber pads. That's right that's all it took. It looks pretty neat. And
the way it's done you can easily take the drive out (in about 30 seconds)
and put another one in. And you could basically put any 3.5 inch drive in
internally you want...Zip 100 mb, SyQuest 135 mb, 1.6 meg HD drive, 800k
Apple, etc. If it's 3.5 inch and not much bigger it'll work.
Like I said earlier the only problem I had was trying to cut the
hole in the lid and it does look a little messy on one side...BUT it can
easily be done!
Now the next step is to go down Monday to an electrical computer
supply store and get the necessary cables. Then when I get my RamFast
back...WALLA VEE CHALL CEE!!! (NOTE: I'm just a little excited!!!) :)
Also one other thing it is mounted in the lid! YEP! That's right!
I figure it's not a portable and you usually don't move it around alot so
why not mount it in the lid. It is stratigically mounted above the Apple
logo about 1/4" from the top of the lid and about an 3/4" from the side.
The only thing that a guy will have to do is when you take of the lid
you'll need to disconnect the drive cables or have enough cable to lay
the lid off to the side when you want to work with the mother board or
slots. The former seems more logical.
I'll post how it works when the RamFast ( ;( ) comes back from
Sequential!
						Later,
						   Mike :)
