Deja News -- what a cool service!

It found 175 hits on "scan" in comp.sys.apple2
Darren Johnson is the person you want to speak to. Additionally, I would
expect Charles Turley could assist you, too. From the archives:

Yes, I use my Screen Print to save as a hi-res or to print. However,
this is hardly what anyone serious would want out of a scanning set-up.
The prints are fairly nice, though not of a half-tone quality.
Applescan GS will only give you a nice picture using the "greyscale"
setting. Saving them as a hi-res I can import them into GW3 or
Appleworks GS, but they come out kind of funky and psychadelic. Line
art still is jagged.
In summary, using the current version of ApplescanGS and ScreenPrint
v.1 is a C- combination. Plus, ScreenPrint puts EVERYTHING on the
screen on the print. ***** Darren Johnson *****

Subject: AppleScanGS - Driver Info!

I need some help finding a GS/OS scan driver. Recently I
obtained a CD titled: 'HACK to the FUTURE' (Apple Dev. CD
Series- 5-92), which contained (among other very
interesting GS/OS application programs) AppleScan GS.
This is a Gs/OS desktop application with the src. codes,
that supports flat-bed scanning with; Line-Art, Greyscale
or halftone and DPI from 50 to 300 selections, etc. The
problem is I don't seem to be able to find the system
driver it's asking for to allow full function, with the
program. Does anybody know where I might obtain the
correct scan driver for this IIGS program'AppleScanGS' -
v1.0d1? Thanks in advance for any help or information
anybody might be able to offer.

Additionally, Glynne Tolar indicated that the program is on the Generous
Efforts of Many (GEM) CD ROM disk.

Whoops, I didn't bother to specifically capture their email addresses.
Well, check out http://www.dejanews.com and you can even follow the
thread from the archive.
