Re: Moving files from A2 to Win95?...
I recently was given a 486 pc and wanted to install Linux on it. I got a
Linux cd and put it in the CD drive of my GS. Someone gave me a still
shrink wrapped copy of Microsloth Works v2.0. I bought a gender changer
and a nullmodem at Radio Shack. Useing AppleWorks GS and MSWorks was quite
easy. I would start AppleWorks GS first then MSWorks. From the MSWorks
menu I chose connect to other computer, this is all I had to do and the
two computers were connected. The only problem was MSWorks only had
xmodem tranfers. On the GS I select send files and on the PC I would
select receive files, I would always get one error when the tranfer first
started but it worked. I made a boot disk and a root disk for Linux this
way with only a 5 1/4 and 3.5 disk drive on the PC.
Once I got Linux installed on a hard drive it got better. Useing AnsiTerm
on the GS and Seyon on the Linux PC I basicly did the same thing. Except
I was able to use zmodem at 38400! I would just start both telecom
programs and type anything on either keyboard and if it showed up on the
other computers monitor I knew I was connected. I never had to give any
special comands like ata or anything else just make sure your stop bits,
baud, parity and etc. are set the same.
Now I'm a happy GS and Linux user ;) !!!
keep on computin'
