Re: Moderation
I am in total agreement with Mr Kohn. I see a total of about 100 posts a
day in CSA2 (all sections) and it seems that there are about 30% posts
devoted to flaming in one way or another. These posts waste my time and
the valuable time of the other readers.
It seems to me, if all the efforts that were put forth in flaming were used
to benefit the Apple II, then the platform would be fun again. Apple II
users are a dying breed and we need to bolster ourselves with help and
programming to keep our platform from going the way of the dinosaurs.
If someone doesnt spell a word correctly, so what! If the grammar isn't
correct, so what! If someone posts a message in the wrong group, so what!
In school, I was a math and science type, and was never very good in
English. My posts may be grammatically incorrect or spelled wrong but I do
the best that I can. I think we all do. I also have always understood
what every post was trying to say, whether on not it was correct English or
not.
This area is for computer users of a common ground, the Apple II, not an
English forum, not a legal form, and not a flame forum. Those posts should
be taken to the appropriate forum and leave the CSA2 pristine.
And last, common decency should prevail. Foul language is never needed to
make a point or to comment on another poster. Sexuality is not a computer
issue and should be left aside. Personal attacks on one poster or another
should be done in e-mail to the intended person and not to the general
public.
In closing, keep it clean, keep it decent, and most of all, keep it Apple
II.
My $.02
Jim
