Re: CD-Rom Help

After reading Dark Dude's post, it seemed like a good idea to check
the docs which came with Sequential's DiscQuest v1.2 system (by Jawaid
Bazyar in 1993). Although running DiscQuest is not the same as just
playing a music CD, the additional information and corrections may help
....

First a correction:

According to the DQ docs, when adding a CD-ROM drive it is
_Important_ that your boot hard drive's SCSI ID is set _HIGHER_ than the
CD-ROM's ID. ("1" is the ID number recommended for the CD-ROM drive used
with DiscQuest.)

Maybe so! The DQ Troubleshooting notes include the following advice
...

If your CD-ROM drive is not recognized, run the RamFAST utility program
(e.g. start RamFAST.System) and make sure the CD-ROM drive appears in the
list of devices. If it does not 1. Make sure your CD-ROM drive is powered
on _before_ you turn on your computer; AND 2. Make sure that your
RamFAST has Version 3.01e of the RamFAST firmware (i.e. the 3.01e or later
ROM).

Two items of information would help:

1. Has any owner of a RamFAST with 3.01e or later ROM had problems getting
the CD music player to work?

2. Has any owner of a RamFAST with a 2.xx ROM gotten the CD music player
to work?
