While it might technically be _possible_, it wouldn't be reasonable,
as the speed of the resulting software would be so much slower that
any software depending on timing loops would fail, software depending on
hardware (lots of dos software) would not find the software needed, etc.
Just too limited to be of much use. There were hardware cards for
relatively little money ($200ish I seem to remember) which provided
MSDOS access.
