TransWarp GS failure '0503'
Last week I made two minor changes to my 6/8 TransWarp GS board,
replacing the CPU (65C816-6, verified to operate at 8 MHz) and the
oscillator with one rated at 32 MHz. In otherwords, an attempt to turn
the board into an 8/8. Upon doing this, a failure message was reported
by the TransWarp GS, error "0503" with instructions to contact AE for
technical support. The board will _not_ function unless I swap the old
25 MHz oscillator back in.
Can someone tell me what the 0503 code is? I plugged the oscillator
in correctly, the only thing to note is it is half-size, while the
original was a full-sized, modified to fit (extensions were soldered
to the lower legs and then bent inwards). My understanding was there
is no need to change the GALs or any other sorts of modifications for
merely pushing the board to 7 or 8 MHz. The ROM version is 1.4 btw.
Is the oscillator bad, or are more changes required to slightly change
the speed?
