Well, I've got mine in a tower case, so I'll answer what I can.

What I did was to take the motherboard out of the IIGS case, cut off the
backplane and side of the IIGS case, strap it into the tower case using
wire ties, and put the motherboard back into the IIGS case.  It has all of
the motherboard supports that are needed.

No.  What I did was to find an AE 3.5" drive - it does have the same
dimensions as IBM style drives. I also had to go buy a Sony disk drive
(~$30) to get a full faceplace.  I also epoxied the push button eject onto
the drive (normally doesn't have one).The drive will then mount into a
drive bay.  However, you still have some electronics left over in the
bottom of the case.  I left these in the drive case, and (again using wire
ties) straped the case to the top of my tower case.  Then, just route the
cables from the drive case to the drive.  (I also hooked up the "turbo"
switch on the front of my tower case to electronically eject the disk.)

Just pick up an internal SCSI cable.  I got one with 9 connectors (card,
terminator, 7 devices), but you can get them from 3 connectors up.  I also
run the final end out the tower case's backplane device so that I can hook
up external SCSI devices when the need arises. (I have a HD, floptical and
CD-ROM hooked up to an AHS card.)

	Serial and keyboard connectors
