Just got my discQuest on Friday and it works flawlessly! I have a
PowerCD for the Mac which is very nice looking on my shelf and it can
also play audio cd's and play Mac & MPC video cd's. I got it about 1.5
year ago and wasn't sure if it would work with the discQuest or not.
Well it does and it has a unique look to it. I can download text files
from it, and can see the entire list of files without discQuest. But
with discQuest all kinds of things open up. I'd called the local Apple
dealer and he told me that unless I wrote or knew someone who would write
a driver for it, it would not work and then seemed bothered when he found
I wasn't into upgrading to a Mac, and acted like I had wasted his time.
I've got a 1 meg RamFast ver 3.01 e-z ROM, the RamFast driver
works with the PowerCd flawlessy with the PowerCD. And I'd like to say to
all that have the RamFast if you have only 256k of cache on your RamFast
you might want to seriously upgrade to the 1 meg of cache. I immediately
noticed it took less time for the cd to be accessed and also startup from
boot to the finder increased noticably. It works really nice! If you want
to upgrade to 1 meg contact Sequential, it's on sale for now at $30.00
for the 2 chips and is pretty simple to change out. Takes about 10
minutes. And is worth every penny!!!
Now I just need to Zip along soon!!!
Mike :)
GS' & //'s FOREVER!!!
P.S.- I noticed that the PowerCD has a 256k buffer size. Does anyone know
if this is upgradable to 512k, or 1 meg? I'd like to know this.
