Resource Central, the company that became ICON, published 5 different
"magazines on disk". Three of those are still currently available.
Hyperbole - A HyperStudio based literary magazine. It was published
for only a few issues, and is no longer available. The people who put
Hyperbole together migrated to the Mac, and they eventually went on to
win some acclaim (and awards) for their Mac based hypermedia
presentations.
A2 Central On Disk - This was the disk based companion to Tom
Weishaar's paper-based A2-Central newsletter. It contained the full
text of the A2-Central Publication as well as a slew of freeware and
shareware. Neither the paper based nor disk based publication is
currently available. It remains copyrighted by Tom Weishaar.
Script-Central - This was the HyperCard based magazine on disk that
was created/edited by HangTime. There were 22 issues (2 disks per
issue) in total, and this collection is currently available from
Shareware Solutions II (166 Alpine St, San Rafael, CA 94901). There's a
complete catalog/index available on the net at http://www.crl.com/~joko
Stack Central/Studio City - This was the HyperStudio based magazine on
disk that was published for 30 issues (2 disks per issue), and the
back issues are also available from Shareware Solutions II. A complete
catalog/index appeared in the latest issue of Shareware Solutions II.
TimeOut-Central - This was the AppleWorks based disk publication that
was jointly created by Randy Brandt and Will Nelken. Offhand, I'm not
sure how many issues were published, but all the back issues are
currently available from Will Nelken's Marin MacroWorks (1675 Grand
Ave, San Rafael, CA) You can get an index/catalog by directing an
e-mail to wnelken1@genie.com
I think the fact that 3 of the publications are currently available
from organizations based in beautiful San Rafael, California is merely
coincidental. Or is it?
