Assuming I read the Tech Reference correctly, you held down Apple and
Option during power-up or Control-Reset.
Test 6 is "serial tests" - SCC registers, etc., related to the two serial
ports (for keyboard problems, test 9 concerns itself with the Apple
Desktop Bus).
For 6, error code 1 is "Register read/write error." Other listed codes:
4-transmit buffer empty status, 5-transmit buffer empty failure, 6-all
sent status failure, 7-receive character available, 8-bad data.
