Adding Memory to Performa 640 CD with DOS Compatibility board

Need some help with adding memory to the sister's Performa
640 CD system. I called Apple tech support twice and got
2 different answers. I want to upgrade her DOS board to
8 Meg from 4 Meg. First tech support said, there are 2 slots
for DOS memory and I could go ahead and put a 4 meg SIMM in the
second slot, great? Well, before I run right out and buy the
memory I call back to check with another tech rep. I get a
different answer. My sister's machine in not accessible to me
so I can't look inside to see the real story. The 2nd tech
rep said there is only one slot for the DOS memory and I would
have to pull out the existing 4 Meg SIMM and replace it with
a 8 Meg SIMM. Please send me mail if anyone has a good answer.
Please don't speculate I really need the real story before I
buy the memory.
