Sony CD Rom drive on a GS

        I bought one of the Sony CDU76S-81 CD Rom drives and hooked it up to
my GS through an Apple HS SCSI card. After realizing I needed to install the
CD media drivers from the 6.01 disks I did this and tried to get the drive to
play audio disks but alas the drive is not responding to commands from the
media control panel. The control panel sees when I put a disc into the drive
but returns errors when I send commands to the drive, typically error 21 and
27.
 
        Does anyone have any suggestions as to the problem. Is it possible
the  APLcd driver is not compatible with the sony drive? The manual says it
needs a MSCDEX and a device driver for the CD-ROM.
