ProDOS question (device mapping)

Hi there,

I have a pretty corrupted HD that prevents me from running quite a lot of
software. Therefore, I can't try this..

Does anyone know how the latest Prodos associates devices with slots? Most
Prodos versions prior to 1.8 or 1.9 or so support up to 4 volumes that are
mapped to s5, d1/d2 and s2, d1/d2. A long time ago I read that newer versions
of Prodos recognize up to 8 volumes. Is tht correct? And if so, how's the slot
mapping?
