About Ground, and other things related!

Dr Tom, let me try some answers, answers & more answers!  Things have
been in disarray here at Iowa, but not to worry - things will get back 
to normal.

Yes, I did get your prizes a week ago last Friday.  Thanks so much.  I
should have e-mailed you, but I probably didn't get to it.  I tried 
posting a couple times to csa2 to PUBLICLY acknowledge receiving the 
EEHunt prizes, but that hasn't worked yet, as I will explain.  Perhaps 
you can post parts of this e-mail, so everyone in csa2-land will know 
what is happening.

I guess I'll explain by chronological sequence.  (As good a order as
any).  First, I had phone problems at home, culminating in the phone
jacks on my home modem (Linelink 144e) dying (all AT computer-modem
commands etc. worked, but the modem couldn't get a dial-tone and the
external phone jack was dead too.).  So I can't get online at home until
I get a modem.  (I sent to LineLink to Prometheus Prod. after getting a
RMA#, but I haven't heard back from them yet.)

I took the last Friday of May off for a long memorial day weekend.  When
I got back to work Tues, both my IIGS and IIe had dead power supplies.

Also, the apple2 drive on ground had died.  2.5 yr into the 5 yr 
warranty. I got the drive this weekend so will call Micropolis today 
(Mon 6/3/96) about a fix/replacement.

Also, over memorial day, the university updgraded the AIX opsys to a new
version.  Among the programs that need to updated are the newreaders,
or more specifically the news posting software.  Nothing I have posted
or followed up has appeared on csa2.  Nada, big bit bucket in the ether
waves, eats my posts.  So I can't tell everyone what is happening.

In short, no modem at home, my IIgs and IIe are working again.  I'll 
check about getting a new apple2 drive for ground.  Someday, posting 
will work again.

In the meantime, some apple2 files will be moved over to liquify, where
all the other computers file went when grind was retired.  Only apple2
went to ground.  All other went to liquify.  To my dismay, ISCA was not
doing periodic backups of grind/ground apple2 files.  95-01-29 was the
last full backup.  So we are looking for a ground mirror to pull files
back from.  (What is the hypermall.com ftp address?  Don't they have
a partial mirror of ground (minus 1WSW) ).  How to fully resurrect 1WSW
files is in limbo.  Obviously I can pull some from your Web site, but 
you may need to upload others again.  I'm hoping for a backup from some
(unknown) mirror site.

Thanks again for the Easter Egg Hunt & prizes.  Please let csa2 know
where I am hiding :-)
