Just seems to be an AV thing. A buddy of mine ran into this problem on his
660. It was an early one with the auto inject floppy even. It didn't like
disks that he had used with his IIgs or IIci. Then it quit reading 800K disks
entirely. Dunno if he ever fixed it.

The fix my friend used was finding a new owner for the 660 and getting a 
Powermac.
