I was the head of service at an Apple dealer at that time. The
Memory Expansion motherboard came out about a month BEFORE the IIgs was
intro'ed (we had one on display at the time), since Apple ran out of the
non-mem-exp main boards before they wanted to. The ones that came with
the //gs as part of THAT intro were also platinum in color - Apple went to
all-platinum at that time.
The point is that you can have a white //c with an original
mem-exp main board, but if it's platinum, it's SUPPOSED to have the
mem-exp main board. And, the mem-exp-mb was a service upgrade for older
machines.

Yep. The Laser 128 was the impetus for the //c+ coming out.
