Italic letters in HomeWord, how?

A friend of mine uses a word processor on the Apple IIe called HomeWord. 
He thinks it is verison 1.0 (but not too sure).  There is very little
documentation with the package.  It's a very simple word processor and
that's why he likes it.

He'd like to be able to print in italic font.  Bold and underline are no
problem.  Any suggestions on how to do this from HomeWord?

He's looked at the manual and the various menu items, but found nothing. 
Maybe it's not possible, I don't know.

I didn't know if this was the right newsgroup to post a question like
this.  But, I'll cross my fingers that someone might have an idea to try.
