The problem with plastic parts that are discolored due to age or exposure to
the Sun is the color is the result of a chemical change in the material. In
the case of plastics the culprit is usually cross-linking or leaching out of
plasticizers. There's not much you can do that I'm aware of to restore the
original color. However, I refurbish about 50 Apple IIe's a year from the
local schools and such and I've found just a real good cleaning does wonders.
I usually strip them _completely_ apart and throw all the plastic (cases,
key-caps, etc.) in soapy water for a good soak and scrubbing. This will at
least wash off the dingy dirt and they usually turn out looking good as new.
