Look in the "Online Display..." item in the "Settings" menu. There is
an item in there called "Delete Key = Backspace". (I'm using Spectrum
2.0, but this feature was also there in 1.0.)

You can usually just reconfigure UNIX to use DEL as the rubout key,
with:
stty erase \^\?
I have this in my ".cshrc" file.
