problem with images

Help !!! I downloaded some diskimages from <ftp.asimov.net> to My Mac
and used unstufit to expand the files. Then I used Apple File Exchange to
copy them to a prodos disk. On the Apple IIe, I used unforkit, which
converted the images to binary files. Then I used the exerciser to change
the file types to "IMG" files which Copy II Plus, version 7.1, could
recognize. Then, I let Copy II Plus copy the images to 5.25. disks.

Those disks will not boot. Probably there is no DOS. There is a
directory, and it looks as though the proper files are there. However,
none of the files will run, nor even load properly. I looked at the
directory with a disk zap program. The listed beginning track/sector for
a file, as shown in the directory, should be the track/sector list for
that file, but it is not. Looks as though the image has gotten scrambled
somehow.

Am I doing it all wrong?? Has anyone else been able to download and use
those images (DOS.BOSS, and GRAPHIC MAGICIAN)???

The files all end in ".GZ", which I assume means "gzip". Should I be
unzipping the files with that program (where can I get it)?
