Yes, there is a reason why they might not work, but i can't remember
what it is.

For example, I have a ADB optical mouse that will not work on the
IIgs, but a regular ADB mouse will.

I wasn't able to get some 3rd party Imac type keyboards working on my
IIgs, but it's possible that keyboard is just broken.

I think it has something to do with the chip they have in.   earlier
ones work fine, some of the later ones don't.

Without knowing brand names, or item names, you might not get an
answer other then try the items.
