The problem with your Vulcan is probably not in the drive itself, but in 
the power supply.

It's failing.  And if you have lots of auxiliary cards installed, it's 
failing faster.

There are folks out there who do repairs on Vulcan power supplies, but my 
personal advice, based on my "Captain Kirk" experience, is to dump the 
dead Vulcan out the Photon Torpedo chute, and get a new power supply and 
SCSI drive.
