   Nothing released. But, you DON'T need SLIP or PPP to do email,
usenet and the like. With a terminal program that can do vt100 (of
which there are many; vt100 is just a way to put characters on a
terminal screen), a modem, and an ISP that supports a vt100
connections, you can run the usenet/email/www programs on the ISP's
unix box and things will run just fine.

   There was internet access from home before SLIP or PPP became
really popular. Just because something else has become popular doesn't
mean that the old methods have suddenly stopped working.
