Sorry, I should have been clearer.  By "keyboard microcontroller", I
meant "ADB microcontroller", which is on the IIgs motherboard.  It is
responsible for communicating over ADB, including automatic polling of
the keyboard and mouse.

The ADB microcontroller interfaces to the computer through a general
logic chip, which deals with synchronizing data transfers.

The error is most likely to mean that the IIgs was not able to
communicate with the ADB microcontroller.  It might be used to
indicate an ADB communication error, but this less likely.

[I'll have to ruminate on your SCSI problems before giving any more
comments.]
