SCSI Device Question

Will any SCSI storeage device work on my GS?  I've found some fairly low 
prices on removable hard disks--the box advertises for other computers.  
If the answer is yes, will a standard Mac SCSI cable chain the device to 
my current hard disk?  I hope what I'm asking makes sense.
