help w/sys6.0.1!!!!!!

i've just recently installed system 6.0.1 on my GS, but when i try to 
boot it off of the hard disk, it loads as normal,and just as it is 
supposed to send me to the desktop, i get an error message, which says 
something along the lines of "System 6.0.1 requires 300K of available 
memory to run, try doing blah blah blah to gain extra memory and then 
reboot" the problem is, however, that i have 4 megs of ram, and i can 
boot the sys. just fine using the 3.5 inch floppy.  i've got no ram disk 
set up right now, and even if i did, there would be 5 times as much 
memory as is needed.  if i need to simply re-install the system, that 
would be fine, if you've encountered this problem, and know of a 
solution, that would be great!
