You can use a modem cable + null modem, but the easiest is just to go
buy a mac localtalk cable (printer cable). It sounds like you have
everything set up right. the GS is the harder side to set up, IMO, but
if you can see the appletalk icons appearing when you boot, and you don't
get any messages about appletalk needing to be enabled then the GS
should be fine. You just need the localtalk cable.
