Probably not much help for hobbyists, but on March 22, 1996 WDC announced
that they would make a mixture of their processor cores with ROM, RAM,
I/O, UARTS and Timers. They also mention the possibility of migration to
ASIC path coupled with factory-dependent EEPROM, SRAM A/D, D/A, LCD, and
other such modules.
