As I understand it, the Apple III OS is a completely new OS. That approach
solves the legal and practical troubles of access to source code, but
for GS/OS it would be a hell of a lot of work!

In any case I like the spirit of this post. Apple II users cannot
wait for Apple to do anything. You'd think this would be obvious going
on three years from the time Apple officially dumped the II. If we, as
Apple II users, want a new OS or new machine, we have to make it.
