BinSCII File Merge Question
Here's the background to my problem:
When I use FTP to obtain software from ground.isca.uiowa.edu, each
separate file on ground becomes a separate ProDOS file on my /RAM5.
For example, apple2/apple16/utils/twilight/twilight.13 becomes
/RAM5/FILE1 on my GS, and the corresponding ground twilight.23 and
twilight.33 files become my FILE2 and FILE3 respectively. This has to
do with my using Internet by email. Everything discussed so far in
this post is a given and cannot be changed (at least not without my
getting a real Internet connection, which isn't going to happen real
soon.)
According to the CSA FAQ, BinSCII can take these separate files as
input and create a single output file. Normally, that single output
file will have an .SHK suffix.
The problem is that I cannot figure how to get BinSCII to accept
multiple inputs. I'm probably missing something real obvious, and the
answer to this post will be clear. But in case it isn't so easy,
perhaps someone could help me with the obvious work-around, which
would be to merge together my FILE1, FILE2, and FILE3 into a single
file. I guess I could quickly write a Beagle-compiled Applesoft
program to do this, but any other ideas will be welcome. Another
possible workaround would be to use BINSCII to decode each of my files
separately and then merge together the resultant .SHK files before
taking them through ShrinkIt. But again, the question would be what
the best way is to merge the files.
