Apple III Power Supply

Hi, 

I picked up a couple of old Apple III's at a swap meet a few years back (I
thought it'd be kind of neat to have one -- just for fun).
 
Anyhow, I'm just getting around to trying to fix them.  Both of them have
bad power supplies.  The supplies make a audible clicking noise that happens 
about 5 clicks/second.  Also, the light on the drive flashes at this same
frequency.  The supplies act the same even when they are removed from the Apple III.
I don't have an oscilloscope or a schematic for the supply, so I'm wondering if
someone has seen this same problem and can maybe point me to the bad component(s)...
