Turborez, and other graphics stuff

I'm just curious. What special features was the turborez card supposed
to have? I was just thinking about Apple IIgs superhires tonight and
I was just wondering what extra features turborez would have added, and
also if there are any other computers that have hardware features that
improve graphics ability (like fill mode and scan-line interrupts do
on the IIgs.)
