Speaking of computers for kids...

I recently started volunteering for a group that works to provide computers
for families and schools with special needs. They take computers of all sorts
in from donations and matches them up with needs. I recondition Apple IIs for
them and set up complete systems from bits and pieces. Although they do
handle anything and everything the IIe's are by far in the highest demand.
They're rugged, simple, and a lot has been developed for special needs. Some
of the cases are heart breaking with parents of limited means trying to
provide the best they can faced with the difficulty of a child with
siginicant challenges (putting this as delicate as I can). Not everyone has
megabuck burning a hole in their pocket for a shiny new Pentium and the
latest version of Doom.

A long time ago I read here in CSA2 that really struck a chord.
Paraphrasing... Steve Wozniak always wanted to build a computer anyone could
afford.... and he did.
