Nope. The RAMFast+CD setup has been able to play music CD's for some
time. Before messing with a ROM upgrade check for the following:
1. There is a folder: SYSTEM/DRIVERS/MEDIA.CONTROL (i.e. a folder named
"Media.Control" in the DRIVERS folder). In Media.Control should be your
CD-ROM driver-- e.g. RF.NEC-- and Media.Setup. If Media.Setup is not
present, don't worry. This file will be created when you setup and exit
the MediaControl control panel.
2. The MediaControl control panel is in SYSTEM/CDEVS. In MediaControl,
click Channel 1, pick your driver, pick a port.
3. A CD-ROM player NDA, like MediaControl.DA, is installed.
4. The leads to your amp or headphones are plugged into the CD-ROM drive's
output. Often, this is a mini stereo jack on the front of the CD-ROM
drive. (i.e. The sound does not go through your IIgs stereo board.)
Once the MediaControl control panel is set up, you should be able to
start the CD-ROM player NDA and try out your favorite CD's.
