Silentype Printer head / Barcode reader S/W

Plain and simple its not my week........
Firstly I get given some joyous Apple2 computers......with various bits 
and pieces......

Then the problems started, e.g. The silentype printer thought it would be
fun to burn itself out <the print head - yep, burned a hole in the paper 
too> and if that wasnt enough the barcode reader s/w decided to go corrupt.

Hence I would like to know if there would be any way to repair said disk
<when you try to catalog it etc. it just complains about a I/O error> 
and/or where I could obtain a barcode reader program,
and also if its possible to get a silentype printer head anywhere?
