AppleWorks file xfer //e-->Mac?

I was wondering if someone could share with me the best way to transfer
AppleWorks files to a Mac for storage and occaisonal access.  Once I get
the files onto my Mac I would like to work with them using ClarisWorks, as
I understand that it has translators to work with AppleWorks files.

I have tried making a null modem connection between the SSC in my Apple
//e and the modem port on my LCIII and I transferred a test file, but I
couldn't open it because it had the wrong creator code.   Does anyone know
the code to make ClarisWorks think that these transferred files came from
AppleWorks?  Or am I going about this in the wrong way?  Unfortunately I
don't have a 3.5" drive for my //e since I imagine that this process would
be much easier if I did.
