help with downloads

Okay here it is, with the announcement of the closing of the Caltech ftp 
site I have decided it is time to start downloading files from the 
various apple ftp sites. My problem is once that I get the files to my 
unix account is transferring them to my GS at home. I am using a 2400baud 
modem with Proterm3.1 to connect with my school. Only problem is that my 
school only offers kermit as the transfer protocol from unix to my home 
account. Can somebody help me with this problem please.
