My jubilation over my working FLATBED SCANNER was premature....help!

Hi.

Okay, yes, I had my flatbed scanner (Apple Scanner) going fine on my sys 601
IIGs, but I had only played with it and scanned using Applescan GS ver 1.1d
at 75 d.p.i.

But today I played further and the software won't scan better than 75 dpi.
If I attempt to, say, sacn at 100 dpi it will say annoyingly:
CANNOT ALLOCATE HANDLER

What the hell does that mean?

Then I tried to save one of my 75 d.p.i. scans and it would allow me to do that!
It kept saying:
BAD PATH NAME .... but I tried every path name in the world and I tried
running the prgram from both HFS and Prodos formatted HDs.

Does anyone know if there is an update to Applescan GS 1.1???
Are there any other programs that can utilize the Apple Scanner?
I mean, Mac's Applescan was made well before the GS version (1990)
and the Mac version is pretty complex in comparison. I don't
want a Mac, but c'mon! This program realllllly sux!

Someone should work on a scan program to work with the Applescanner.
As Mac users are tossing these babies out (that's how I got mine)
us frugal IIgs users can pick these up -
like many of us here did with our cd rom drives.

Think of how cool it'd be to have 300 dpi perfect flatbed images
imported into Graphic Writer II, for example.
