I'd say your Option key is stuck. Note that the Option key is also a
joystick button (2, was it??), so it might be: Keyboard has a dent,
joystick plugged in has a dent, ADB controller has a dent, joystick
port controller has a dent, or: I am barking up the wrong tree and
it's not your Option key at all :). Sure sounds like it, though.
