Also, most IBM clone buyers are looking to run new software which is EXTRAMLY
inefficient.  They have the speed and the space, so why bother to do ANY 
kind of optimization?  Most of the current programmers wouldn't know 
assembly programming source from Greek.  And why should they bother when 
the hardware keeps getting faster?  They'll soon be writing a program to 
add 2 to 3 in LISP, taking 20 Meg of disk space, and 100K machine cycles 
to do what could be done in assembler in less than 1K and in under 100 
cycles.

So, as long as the trend continues, it will be self perpetuating, and 
users will have to upgrade at least every two years to the new machine 
that is 10 times faster and 10 times bigger or they can't run the new 
version of their favorite game.
