Hi Bill! Actually, the direct-to-disk recording was never developed,
since it was supposed to be part of the Soundmeister PRO card, which was
canned. I followed this for quite awhile, since I was very excited about
somebody doing hard-disk recording with a GS. High quality recording?
Unfortunately, I've only found it once, and that was using a Futuresound
board. They have been long since discontinued, and getting them to work
under GS/OS nowadays is an adventure. I've been through MANY soundcards
on the GS, and eventually gave up on quality recording, since it just
wasn't there. These days, I use my main workstation for sampling,
converting to 8-bit res, and just dump it to the GS. I still have my
soundmeister and Sonic Blaster, but I traded my Futuresound to Petar
Puskarich for a sweet deal on a CD drive. :)
