The drive mechs are all over the place, and getting cheaper since new Macs
don't use them. I just got a never used, still sealed replacement part from
a place on AOL for $75. I put it in my Q700 and hand-me-downed its old drive
to my SE/30 nee SE to replace its 800K drive.

I've never seen a real live external superdrive, I expect that these aren't
overly common.
