Re: Apple II Forum on AOL closing

Why should AOL support a platform which at best would give them 10,000
subscribers.. (Give or take 5 or 10 thousand, who cares) when they have
nearly 5 million members now? 10,000 out of 5,000,000 means about 1/5 of 1
percent of their customers.. AOL is completely graphical now, and the GS
and Apple // software does not have the capability to do it.. the Apple //
couldn't do the graphics needed period, and the Apple //gs would be able
to crudely do the 256+ color graphics.. so tell me they should do a
complete rewrite of the software for probably about 25% of their 10,000
Apple users who own GS's?! Thats rediculous, it makes no sense at all! And
technologically speaking the GS probably wouldn't be able to do the needed
graphics without a Second Sight card.. a stock GS doing 640x200 graphics
or whatever the stock graphics modes are in 16 colors just isn't going to
work.. so if they made it for Second Sight cards we are probably talking
about maybe 1,000 people, of which how many would subscribe to AOL? Well,
there is your reason why the Apple is not supported anymore. Even users
who cannot run Windows are being shut off to AOL, and Commedore 64/128
users lost access same time as the Apple // did.. its not like Apple is
being percecuted... All Commedore 64/128, 8088, 286, Tandy, etc.. users
are also being shut out..
