I can't let this statement go unchallenged. AppleWorks 3.0 DOES NOT
directly support the DeskJet in its native mode, any more than previous
versions do. A third-party program called SuperPatch 8.0 contains a group
of patches which do provide the necessary code to endow AW 3.0 with full
DeskJet support (or as full support as possible within AW's limitations),
and this is the only way I know of providing good DeskJet support in AW
3.0.

The latest versions of AppleWorks (4 and 5) have this patch code built in,
and therefore DO provide DeskJet support, although the DeskJet still dose
not show up in the the Printer Setup as an option. Instead, there is a
TimeOut program provided with the new versions which installs the patches
for you. Just be aware that running this installer removes any printers
you have already installed, so you'll need to set those up again after
installing the DeskJet drivers.
